Access to information about health is constantly evolving during this interconnected digital age. However, #misinformation continues to spread on social media, especially when it comes to health-related issues. How can we learn and access reliable health-related content in the age of misinformation? What is its social impact on #healthcare? How can we develop #Policies and #Strategies to regulate it? Join us for this new edition of #SPEPublicForum to learn and discuss the impact of misinformation on healthcare in Canada. The multidisciplinary expert panel will be providing insights into the current #policies, on how to address the viral spread of misinformation about public health, the impact of social networks on health systems, and much more! Olivier Bernard is a science communication expert and speaks frequently about fighting health misinformation. Olivier completed his B.Pharm. and M.Sc. in pharmacogenetics at Université Laval and currently works as a pharmacist and science communicator. Vera Granikov is a PhD candidate at the School of Information Studies at McGill University. She explores the role of collaboration in the updating of information. Vera is also part of the Quebec-SPOR Support Unit where she leads health information and research literacy units and a collaborative information monitoring system Fatima Tokhmafshan is a geneticist at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre, specializing in child health. Fatima completed her B.Sc. in Biology at York University and her M.Sc. in Human Genetics at McGill University. She is the communications and research lead for COVID-19 Resources Canada and a member of the steering committee for the #ScienceUpFirst Initiative. Moderating this event: Alexandra Gellé, a Ph.D. researcher at McGill University in the department of Chemistry. She obtained her B.Sc. from Université de Montréal. Alexandra is also involved in science communication as the president of Pint of Science Canada.
