PEARL saved through federal money

Wednesday, the federal government, along with NSERC, announced funding for the Polar Environment Arctic Research Laboratory (PEARL) that explores critical environmental and climate matters and which was previously cut from the 2017 Budget. "By investing in the PEARL research network, we'll ensure that the research done in Canada's High Arctic continues to deepen our knowledge of the challenges before us." Environment Minister Catherine McKenna said.

The non-for-profit Evidence4Democracy’s public engagement and its petition to request the federal government to commit to annual funding, is a bright example of how public is able to push support for science.
